Pre-survey questionnaire

The same questionnaire our surveyors work from, as a web form. Fill it in and we can usually scope and price a survey without a discovery call — and tell you honestly if you don't need one.

Why it's this long

Because the alternative is worse. A Wi-Fi survey quoted from a floor area and a phone call is a guess, and guesses in this market are wrong in one direction: too few access points, too little allowance for the building, and a variation once somebody is on site.

Every question below changes the design, the effort or the price. Ceiling height and racking density move the number more than floor area does. Device count and applications decide capacity. Cold stores, hazardous areas and restricted floors change how a surveyor has to work. Areas you tell us are out of scope come straight off the price.

You don't have to complete all of it. Name, company, email and phone are the only required fields. Answer what you know, leave the rest, and we'll pick it up in the conversation.

Seven sections

Answer what you can. Required fields are marked by your browser; everything else is optional.

1Who you are

So we know who to come back to. Everything else is optional if you don't have it to hand.

2The site

Where the survey would take place. If it's a multi-site programme, describe the first or a representative site and say so at the end.

Name, and phone or email — whoever would let a surveyor in.
3What the network has to do

The single most useful section. Capacity is designed from device counts and applications, not floor area.

For example Teams and video calls, barcode scanners, voice handsets, AGVs, guest browsing, CCTV, EPOS, telecare.
Lecture theatres, canteens, meeting suites, packing benches, event spaces — and roughly how many devices in each.

If you're not sure, leave it — the survey will establish what your device fleet can actually use.

We're vendor-independent. If you have a standard, we'll design to it; if not, we'll recommend from the measured data.
4Coverage

Which areas have to work, and which explicitly don't. Areas out of scope save you money.

CAD is ideal; a scaled PDF is fine. Scale matters more than format. Without drawings we can measure and draw the building, but it's separate work.
PDF, DWG, DXF, JPG, PNG or a zip. Up to 8 MB in total — email anything larger.
Yards, car parks, quaysides, pontoons, campus grounds. Outdoor is designed and priced separately — leave blank if none.
Access requirements, permits, temperatures, and anything a surveyor needs to know before arriving.
Cloakrooms, plant rooms, stairwells, unlet floors. Being specific here reduces the price.
5What's already there

Tells us whether this is a design job, a re-engineering job, or both.

Vendor, rough age, how many access points, controller or cloud managed, and what's wrong with it.
Telecare and nurse-call, scanners on their own radio, wireless CCTV, DECT, machinery, radio links. These share the spectrum and matter.
6The building itself

Construction and height change the answer as much as anything else on this form.

Mezzanines, cold stores, atria, listed fabric, foil-backed insulation, recent partition changes, planned works.
7Practicalities

The things that shape the programme and the price.

Occupied hours, out-of-hours or shutdown working, inductions, permits, escort requirements, working at height.

We'll come back with a scoped survey and a fixed price, or with the two or three questions still outstanding. Your details go nowhere else.
